Analog Devices Inc. ADG54x Bi-Directional Fault Protection Switches
Analog Devices ADG5412BF/ADG5413BF Bi-Directional Fault Protection Quad SPST Switches feature four independently controlled single-pole/single-throw (SPST) switches for bi-directional overvoltage protection up to −55V and +55V. The ADG5412BF consists of four switches that turn on with Logic 1 inputs, while the ADG5413BF includes two switches that turn on and two switches that turn off with Logic 1 inputs. When powered on, each switch conducts equally well in both directions and offers an input signal range that extends to the supplies. The digital inputs of ADG5412BF/ADG5413BF are compatible with 3V logic inputs over the full operating supply range. When power supplies are absent, the switch remains in the off condition and the switch inputs are in a high impedance state to prevent a fault event. Under normal operating conditions, if the analog input signal levels on any switch pin exceed VDD or VSS by a threshold voltage, VT, the switch turns off. ADG5412BF/ADG5413BF block input signal levels up to +55V or −55V relative to the ground in powered and unpowered conditions.
The low on-resistance of 10Ω combined with 0.5Ω on-resistance flatness over a significant portion of the signal range make the ADG5412BF/ADG5413BF bi-directional fault protection switches ideally suited for data acquisition and gain switching applications where excellent linearity and low distortion are critical.
