Microchip Technology ATMXT449T Touchscreen Controllers are designed with maXTouch^® adaptive sensing technology to deliver unparalleled touch features and a robust user experience. These ATMXT449T controllers feature support for up to 16 concurrent touches, I²C or SPI serial interface, Capacitive Touch Engine (CTE), and superior moisture performance. The ATMXT449T touchscreen controllers can accurately measure, classify, and track multiple fingers touches in the shortest response time. The CTE can eradicate parasitic capacitance on the receiver input lines by using an optimal measurement approach.

The ATMXT449T touchscreen controllers can measure both self and mutual capacitance to produce reliable touch information as the self-capacitance measurements. The self-capacitance measurement detects single touches when thick gloves are used, whereas mutual capacitance measurements provide positional information on touches. Shieldless touch sensor stacks are made possible by combining hardware noise processing, analog circuitry, and firmware that combats display noise. The ATMXT449T controllers use enhanced algorithms, including a lens bending algorithm to remove display noise, touch suppression algorithms, and a palm recovery algorithm for normal-state restoration.
